What I own and how I get paid.
You should know who’s talking and what’s in it for him. Here it is, plainly.

The companies I own or hold a stake in
- A property management company in Moncton, New Brunswick, started in 2010. I’m its hands-on CEO.
- A services company with six trade divisions: Appliance Repair, Plumbing, Electrical, Outdoor Works, Renovations and Handyman.
- An investment company that owns apartment buildings.
- A minority stake in a pest control company.
- I also work as a commercial realtor.
The companies aren’t named on this site yet. If you want to know who they are before you work with me, ask. I’ll tell you.
How this site makes money
Books, Groundwork memberships, Red Pen Sessions, Keystone, Foundry, the Blueprint and Autopilot sprints, Open Yard tickets and speaking fees. How each one works is on Work with me, Open Yard and Speaking. You get the numbers in writing before you decide.
Equity
From November 2027, Foundry Partners lets an owner pay a lower fee plus 10% of the new company instead of the full Foundry fee. The 10% is only ever in the new company, never in your core business. You can buy it back after 36 months, on terms written into the agreement before you sign. If I own part of your company, it’s in writing and you’ll know before you sign.
Separately, our investment company sometimes buys 20 to 30% of trade businesses in Atlantic Canada. That’s the group’s decision, not part of any advice I give you, and it’s always a separate conversation.
Tools I mention
When I name a tool, it’s one we run inside the group. Nobody pays me to mention it.
Sponsorship
None today. If The Line Item ever carries a sponsor, it will be a tool we run inside the group, it will be named as a sponsor, and it will be listed on this page.
Affiliate links
None. The Amazon link to Doorpreneur is a plain link.
What stays private
Nothing on this site comes from the private records of the people our companies serve. Stories about our companies are told with permission and without client details.
